Abandoned Highland Dwelling

ImageA couple of years ago, I found this tiny and apparently long abandoned dwelling in the highlands. These were used by farmers who had to harvest grass from the moors and mountains. The grass was stored in a network of barns, and the farmers would bring it home from the highlands in winter. This is the barn next to the dwelling.

The dwelling itself had one room, about 2,5 x 2,5 meters (8 x 8  feet). The furniture, half-buried in the dirt floor, was a bed, a folding table, a bench and a small fireplace. The roof is about to fall down and some of the logs are about to rot.

ImageBoth inner and outer walls had drawings and inscriptions, both runic and latin.

I used Rollei Retro 80s, an aerial film derived from Agfa Aviphot Pan 80. I have heard a lot of praise for this particular film, and I recommend it. It’s amazing!

(Zeiss Ikon ZM, Carl Zeiss Biogon 2,8/28, Rollei Retro 80s in Rodinal 1:25, 7 min.)

    • Thanks, James! I’m a lousy printer, but I’ll give it a try when winter comes and it’s too dark to do shoot anyway.
